About
Sarah Nazarian moved to Fairport Village in 1998 and has happily raised her family here. She lives with her husband Russell while their four sons—Brodie, Jordan, Hank, and Quinn—are grown and working; three of them live out of the Rochester area. In her free time, Sarah likes to run, read, watch football, walk in the village, travel with Russell, spend time with her parents, and laugh as much as possible.
A graduate of Penfield High School, Sarah earned a BA in English literature with a minor in secondary education from Gettysburg College. Her MS in teaching and curriculum is from the University of Rochester’s Warner School of Education. Sarah is a recently-retired high school teacher after 33 years teaching English in a neighboring school district. Throughout her career, she served as English department leader, advisor to the literary magazine and GSA, and served on countless building and district committees. Outside of the classroom, Sarah agreed to sit in dunk tanks, participate in pep-rally antics, and essentially anything to help build community in the school.
Sarah was appointed to the Fairport Village Board as a Trustee in January 2026 to fill a vacant position. In her short time on the board, Sarah has approved the village’s new zoning code that further defines and clarifies zoning allowances and approved the 2027 Village budget that fully funds all services for residents—including police and fire departments—while maintaining all services and village a AA bond rating and kept taxes increases low at a time when all other goods and services are seeing steep price increases. She is committed to the safety of Village residents and approaches all her decisions by considering the question “What’s best for the Village?” Further, one of Sarah’s goals is to create fluid connectivity between the Village Board and the Perinton Town Board. Finally, Sarah plans to speak openly and often with Village residents to hear their ideas, concerns, wishes, and feedback.
Sarah’s campaign for four more years as a Village Trustee is endorsed by the Perinton Democrat Committee, the Monroe County Democratic Committee, the Working Families Party, Congressman Joe Morelle, County Executive Adam Bello, the New York State Young Democrats, and Eleanor’s Legacy.
In addition to her position on the Village Board, Sarah was on the board of directors for the Iron Angel Foundation, the President of the Fairport Football Booster Club, and served in several roles in the Fairport youth and scholastic football programs. When she was still a competitive runner, Sarah also served on the board for the Rochester Runnerof the Year committee. Service to the community is simply part of who Sarah is and will continue to be.
